The year we said no to Birthday cards

We celebrated my husband's birthday over the weekend. Usually I would take the kids out when he's at work and get them to choose a special card and gift for their Dad.  We would then come home and they would scribble on half the card how much they loved their daddy and leave me the other side of the card to pour whatever mushy words I had.  We do this year after year!  So obviously when you do this year after year you end up with this mess.

Ok so it's nice when someone gives you a card and it tells you how great and fabulous you are!  Who doesn't want to hear that right?.... but after the BIG day, these cards just gets put away (poor trees) in the memory box collecting dust in the corner of the rumpus.  So this YEAR we decided! NO MORE CARDS FOREVER! Instead a Wish Book.....

Every year we write our birthday wishes and love messages to each other in this book.  We keep writing in this book every birthday until the kids are all grown, until DH and I are old and grey, until..... forever.  And one day we can look back and read together all the wishes and dreams we had for each other.  One day the kids can read what they wished for their daddy when they were 8 and 3.  And maybe it will bring us back to that moment again when nothing was better than seeing the words "Happy Birthday to the best Daddy in the world"
